Next meeting!!

We will meet again on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. In Room 215 of the Kremen building. We will look at the Language Convention 1.a-h standards and the writing 1 text types standards. We will Lso take a look at some websites? Bring the standards you have unpacked and join the discussion!

Meeting tomorrow at 9 a.m. We will be looking at some writing rubrics as well as the standards we have unpacked! Come and bring a friend!

What do students need to know?

As I have been reading about unpacking the standards and unpacking some of the kindergarten ones. I am really taking notice of what the students need to know or are expected to know in order to master that standard. I am asking questions like Have they mastered that skill? Can they master these standard without mastery of that skill? Close examination of each standard is necessary before expecting mastery.....can be very complicated and rime consuming if we must go back and retract. I am wondering if the building blocks for the foundation are in place for us to cement in....

I am receiving lots of information regarding conferences and workshops on the Common core...has anyone attended any? Would love to hear about them.......

When unpacking a standard we want to dissect it to find out what we really want the end result to be. One way to get more information is to look at state release assessment questions. The ,ore information we have the better we can equip our students!

December 3. February 4. March 3
All meetings will be from 9 a.m. Until noon in the Kremen Education Building at CSUFRESNO

Assignment for our next face to face meeting is to unpack e Language Convention standards 1a,b,c for your assigned grade level and write a learning objective for each one.
